Voluntourism and Cruising  March 2016


Nancy Schretter, Together for Good's Founder, is featured in a session entitled "Shorex and the Rise of Voluntourism" at Seatrade Global 2016, the cruise industry’s premier conference. This session covers how cruise lines and others are catering to travelers' interests in combining volunteer opportunities with leisure travel and ways ports can adapt and cater to this voluntourism trend.
Presenters include Tara Russell, President of Fathom & Global Impact Lead, Carnival Corporation & Plc; Daniel Skjeldam, CEO, Hurtigruten; John Stoll, Vice President, Land Programs, Crystal Cruises; and Yoshioka Tatsuya, Founder and Director, Peace Boat.

The I Can Foundation is a local charitable organization that operates a foster home for children between the ages of 0-13 who have been the victims of neglect, abuse or other social issues. The majority of the children at the I Can Home are often between 4 and early teens. The I Can Home is in need of sporting goods, diapers, blue pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, crayons, colored pencils, colored markers, soaps, shampoos, age appropriate children's clothing, puzzles and board games, small stuffed animals, small toys and arts & crafts supplies.
